Puppetry
Michele Cheng was introduced to puppetry in 2018 while working as a children's museum program specialist and an elementary school music educator. Since 2019, she has been incorporating puppetry into her creative work and animating objects as puppets. She began with two existing hand puppets— a squirrel and a fluffy sheepdog— and started building her own in 2022. She receives training through theatre courses with puppeteer and movement artist Kate Brehm at Harvard University. She has done fieldwork in North America, Europe, and Taiwan, where she studies traditional and modern puppetry, puppet design and building with different materials and techniques, as well as applied puppetry.
